“Only Murders in the Building” star Selena Gomez will reportedly star in the next film from filmmaker Brady Corbet, behind Oscar-winning “The Brutalist” and acclaimed films like “The Childhood of a Leader” and “Vox Lux”.

The InSneider broke the news, adding that Corbet’s film is rumored to be titled “The Origin of the World,” but there’s no official word on that at all.

Corbet previously confirmed that his next film would be a horror-western project with a ‘looser style’ than his prior movies. The film will span over 150 years, from the late 19th century to the present day, though it will primarily focus on the 1970s.

In November last year, he confirmed in an interview that the film would potentially land an X rating, would likely have as long a runtime (maybe longer) than “The Brutalist,” and the story would explore “Northern California’s economy”.

This week, Corbet went into a little more detail about the project, telling Deadline:

“My new film is a film that is sort of about American mysticism and the history of the occult in America, and I’ve been reading tons and tons of material about the migration of the cultist belief systems and structures. I’ve started working with this fascinating guy called Mitch Horowitz, who is an occultist historian of America.”

Corbet says the film, which aims to be “genre-defying,” will be shot “entirely” on 70mm film.
