Like this – the new trailer for Street Fighter.

Who doesn’t love Street Fighter? If you are an Outposter of a certain age, it was foundational gaming, from the coin-op to the Super Nintendo gathered around in a college dorm room.

There have been many attempts at a Street Fighter movie. Only two made it to the screen, and only one made any impact. That was largely due to Kylie Minogue in tight clothes and Raul Julia thinking he appears in a far better movie.

Now, is third time a charm?

 

Street Fighter

Set in the peak Street Fighter era of1993, the movie follows estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) who are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury.

But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past.

The film’s ensemble cast also includes Cody Rhodes as Guile, Orville Peck as Vega, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Mel Jarnson as Cammy, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, and Eric Andre as Don Sauvage.

Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show) is directing the feature from a script co-written with T.J. Fixman. Legendary Entertainment is co-developing and co-producing with Capcom.

Street Fighter opens in cinemas on October 16th.
