FX’s “The Bear” will end with its currently in production fifth season. Recurring guest star Jamie Lee Curtis seemingly let slip the news when she posted a photo on Instagram of herself and co-star Abby Elliott on the set filming.
That photo was captioned: “FINISHED STRONG! Surrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with.”
Many took that to mean she was confirming the show was over. Access Hollywood then asked her on a red carpet if she was confirming the show is ending, and she confirmed it:
“But everybody’s confirmed the show is ending. I don’t understand why that’s such a [big deal]. Unless I’m gonna get a call from all the people saying, ‘You just told [everyone],’ I think everybody understood that it was the last season of the show. If it isn’t, then I’ve completely blown it.”
Sources for Deadline have subsequently also confirmed the Jeremy Allen White-led comedy drama will end with its upcoming fifth season.
The news isn’t a huge surprise, White previously revealing that Storer’s original idea was to end the show after the fourth season before a fifth season renewal was handed out back in July.
The fifth and final season is expected to premiere later this year.
