Capcom is reportedly planning to release a ‘major’ unannounced title by the end of its current fiscal year in March 2024.
The news was revealed in a Q&A section published alongside its latest earnings results this week, with the title expected to impact its year-end sales targets.
This has led to speculation it’s something tied to one of its biggest franchises such as “Resident Evil” or “Monster Hunter”. Capcom is aiming to achieve eleven consecutive years of operating income growth.
The company had strong sales in the first half of its fiscal year (April-September 2023) with “Street Fighter 6” surpassing 2.47 million units and the “Resident Evil 4” remake selling a further 1.66 million copies bringing its lifetime total to 5.45 million sold since its release in March. Both titles had rave reviews.
Their new franchise “Exoprimal” wasn’t so lucky, launching in mid-July and selling fewer than 940,000 copies by the end of September and mixed/poor reviews.
When the title will be announced isn’t clear, though The Game Awards in December seems a likely place for at least a trailer or announcement.
