This year’s Black Friday sales day is setting an all-time record with over $107 million set to be spent at the cinema today alone.

In fact, it’s also on track for the second highest-grossing day of 2024 to date, behind only the $118.3 million earned on Friday, July 26th when “Deadpool & Wolverine” opened. Here the money is going three ways between three major titles.

“Moana 2” pulled in $28 million on Thanksgiving Thursday and is tracking to do at least $55 million today. The film is not only on track to gross at least $175 million over the five-day holiday weekend, but could hit the $200 million mark or beyond.

“Wicked” continues to do robut business with $16.9 million on Thanksgiving and a further $27 million on Friday. It is headed for a gross of around $105 million for the five-day holiday.

“Gladiator II” ain’t being counted out either. It took $6.7 million on Thanksgiving and is headed for a further $12.6 million today. It’s still on track for a $45 million five-day holiday haul domestically.

The strong business is expected to continue for all three titles for several weeks as there’s little competition until December 20th when “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” and “Mufasa: The Lion King” open with both expected to snag $50+ million debuts.
