Pulitzer Prize finalist Heidi Schreck (“Billions,” “Nurse Jackie”) has been hired as writer and executive producer of the live-action “She-Ra” series currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios.
She joins previously attached names like Nicole Kassell who will direct and executive produce and Robin Sweet who will also executive produce.
DreamWorks Animation, who produced the well-regarded Netflix animated series “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power,” is involved as well but this live-action series is to be a new, standalone story not connected to the animated show.
The project is described as an epic fantasy series about an orphaned young woman who leads a revolution to save her planet from annihilation.
Announced three years ago, the series will mark the first time Princess Adora and her friends have been done in live-action.
The original “He-Man” spin-off series ran for two seasons and nearly 100 episodes between 1985 and 1986. The Netflix series ran for five seasons and 52 episodes, wrapping its run last year.
