“Fleabag” and “Killing Eve” creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who recently starred in the final “Indiana Jones” film, has scored a series order for her “Tomb Raider” TV series adaptation.
Amazon has handed out said order for its Prime Video service. Head of Amazon & MGM Studios Jen Salke revealed the news at the company upfront event in New York.
Salke calls the series “epic” and Waller-Bridge says: “If I could tell my teenage self this was happening I think she’d explode. Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”
Waller-Bridge is writing the series but no cast has been set as yet. The project was first reported on as being in development last year with Waller-Bridge commenting on it before.
The plan is for a project that will launch a wider universe at Amazon that will include potential films. Dmitri Johnson is producing.
Rights holders Legendary, who has an anime “Tomb Raider” series at Netflix, is involved here as well.
