It has been a busy day on the casting front.
First up, “Ahsoka” actress Ivanna Sakhno has landed a leading role in “M3GAN 2.0” at Atomic Monster and Blumhouse. Akela Cooper and Gerard Johnstone developed the story for the follow-up.
Sakhno will star alongside Allison Williams and Violet McGraw, who will both be reprising their roles as Gemma and Cady, respectively. The film has already set a May 2025 release.
Next, Glenn Powell, Margaret Qualley and Ed Harris are all joining “Emily the Criminal” writer/director John Patton Ford’s new film, the entertaining revenge thriller “Huntington” at A24 and StudioCanal.
Powell plays Becket Redfellow, the heir to a multi-billion-dollar fortune who will stop at nothing to get what he deserves… Or what he thinks he deserves. [Source: A24]
Next, Alden Ehrenreich (“Solo: A Star Wars Story,” “Cocaine Bear”) is the latest to join “Barbarian” director Zach Cregger’s horror thriller “Weapons” at New Line Cinema. Ehrenreich joins an ensemble that also includes Julia Garner and Josh Brolin.
Then, Karen Gillan and Zoë Chao will lead the cast of the feature comedy “Let’s Have Kids!” which begins filming this week. Adam Sztykiel makes his directorial debut on the project. It follows two female lifelong best friends who try to have their first babies at the same time. Troubled is only one of them gets pregnant.
Next, Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks have landed the leads in the series adaptation of Alafair Burke’s novel “The Better Sister” which has been ordered straight-to-series at Prime Video. The thriller sees two estranged sisters shocked when the lawyer husband of one is brutally murdered.
Finally, “Talk to Me” filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou are re-teaming on original horror movie titled “Bring Her Back” and have set two-time Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins to star. Filming begins this summer and plot details are under wraps.
