GKIDS has finally announced the home video release of Hayao Miyazaki’s acclaimed and Oscar-winning animated feature “The Boy and the Heron”.
The film will be coming to all major digital platforms on June 25th and will be followed by 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD releases on July 9th. Numerous interviews, trailers and storyboards will be included with the release.
It marks one of two successful major Japanese features that arrived at the end of last year in U.S. cinemas, the other being “Godzilla Minus One”. That film still doesn’t have a U.S. release date, but is reportedly targeting a May 3rd debut on Amazon Prime in Japan only.
Several other films have also set dates. First up, Guy Ritchie’s recently released “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” is coming to digital on May 10th, just three weeks after its cinema debut.
The Eric Bana-led “Force of Nature: The Dry 2” will be coming to U.S. digital platforms from May 10th. Finally, Alex Garland’s “Civil War” hasn’t set a digital date but has been set for a July 9th disc release.
