Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation have set an August 1st 2025 release date for the sequel to their 2022 animated hit “The Bad Guys” based on Aaron Blabey’s popular book series.
The sequel’s story follows the criminal crew of animal outlaws who struggling to find trust and acceptance in their newly minted lives as Good Guys.
However, they’re pulled out of retirement and forced to do ‘one last job’ by an all-female squad of criminals. Universal previously had the date reserved for an untitled DreamWorks Animation title.
The entire cast from the $250 million grossing original is returning for the sequel including Sam Rockwell as dashing reformed pickpocket Mr. Wolf; Marc Maron as safe-cracker Mr. Snake, Craig Robinson as master-of-disguise Mr. Shark, Anthony Ramos as short-fused Mr. Piranha and Awkwafina as expert hacker Ms. Tarantula.
Also back are Zazie Beetz as Diana Foxington, Richard Ayoade as Professor Marmalade, Alex Borstein as police chief Misty Luggins and Lilly Singh as Tiffany Fluffit.
Pierre Perifel is directing with Damon Ross producing, with JP Sans serving as co-director. Daniel Pemberton will again handle the score.
