Following the success of his Best Picture-winning “One Battle After Another,” acclaimed filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson is reportedly already lining up his next movie.
Longtime collaborator Jonny Greenwood, who has composed the scores of multiple Anderson films, spoke with Screen Daily and says: “Paul is getting close to pressing the button on the next film”.
He added that he’s already learning a new musical instrument that will be ‘central’ to the film.
Greenwood noted that Anderson was considering a “few ideas” but has now “chosen one” and the man “seems to be gaining momentum again” to do his next film.
Responding to the interviewer’s query that they thought it’d be a while before a new PTA film, Greenwood says: “You think the [next] film is going to take years to do, and often they do. But then he turned Licorice Pizza around in a matter of months.”
Rumors are that a 1940-set Jazz film focused around the Hotel Dunbar in South Central Los Angeles is one of the strong possibilities. Denzel Washington and Tiffany Haddish were previously linked to that film but have not been confirmed.
