Marvel Studios is set to introduce the X-Men in the near future with not just whatever the outcome of “Avengers: Secret Wars” is but also Jake Schreier’s upcoming “X-Men” movie.
Schreier (“Thunderbolts”) himself has dismissed the various casting rumors that have swirled about as casting isn’t expected to officially get underway until later in the year, with only some early preliminary discussions having taken place and zero formal offers made at this time.
Nonetheless, like with James Bond, casting rumours have been running rampant for months how ranging from Charles Melton to Odessa A’zion, Wagner Moura, Cynthia Erivo, Hunter Schafer, Bill Skarsgård and “Obsession” breakout Inde Navarrete.
Last weekend, talk surged that Adam Driver was in talks to play Magneto. That’s changed again today with a new report at ApocHorseman suggesting he’s actually up for Mr. Sinister.
Scooper MTTSH is saying Cooper Hoffman (“The Long Walk,” “Licorice Pizza”) has emerged as the studio’s “top choice” to play Scott Summers/Cyclops.
None of the trades has given any credence to the reports, which have mostly circulated from the more speculative parts of online scoopdom. All of this appears to be purely speculative for now, but it is driving a lot of online chatter.
Filming on the new “X-Men” film isn’t expected to get underway until sometime next year, though pre-production could commence before the end of the year. Sonny Lee Sung Jin (“Beef”) and Joanna Calo (“The Bear”) recently boarded the project to write a new draft of Michael Lesslie’s script.
