The spin-off series of James Gunn’s “Superman” film, one putting the focus on Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen character and others at the Daily Planet, appears ot have a title.
The project was first reported last year with the project under consideration and said to be a crime anthology series with the Daily Planet reporter investigating various supervillains.
The series would also serve as an introduction to several other DC Comics metahuman characters. The show reportedly has “American Vandal” co-creators Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda on board to write, executive produce and showrunners.
One report late last year suggested the show would go by the name “DC Crime” which Gunn himself shot down very quickly, saying that was never ever under consideration, but did confirm the Jimmy Olsen show was real.
Now, a listing on the Writer’s Guilde of America website (via A Geek’s Viewpoint & CBM) reveals that the show has landed a title – “American Villain”. Gunn and Peter Safran will executive produce.
The series is expected to mark Gorilla Grodd’s live-action DCU debut after briefly popping up in “Creature Commandos”. Perrault previously called it a “crime mystery comedy” series.
Gisondo will also return for “Man of Tomorrow” which is currently filming in Atlanta.
