Chris Pratt will star and McG will direct “Way of The Warrior Kid,” a film adaptation of the Jock Willink novel, which will begin filming this Summer.

The story follows Marc, a self-doubting 11-year-old boy who gets bullied and is physically struggling. His uncle Jake is an elite Navy SEAL who is injured on a mission and moves in with his sister for rehab.

When Jake discovers Marc is struggling academically, socially and physically, Jake takes on a new mission: using his SEAL Team training over three months of summer to help the youth find his inner warrior.

Willink is a retired Navy SEAL who found a second career as podcast host, author and motivational speaker who helps guide adults to finding their better selves.

Pratt says in a statement: “I have faith this film will help to shape today’s youth, putting them on the right path. Our young people need this movie… I hope this story will help bridge the growing divide and inspire the next generation to learn valuable lessons about discipline, self-reliance, strength, and compassion.”

Will Staples (“Without Remorse”) will pen the adaptation which will be sold at the upcoming Cannes market. Ben Everard, McG, Mary Viola, Willink and Pratt will produce.
