With the third season of “Daredevil: Born Again” currently in production, speculation has been high regarding who will serve as the antagonist of the new season.
With Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk expected to be behind bars for at least some of the season, and possibly in hiding going by some recent photos of him dressing down and sporting a beard, who is going to step in as a foil for Charlie Cox’s Daredevil?
Muse is coming back with a different character under the mask, and recently showrunner Dario Scardapane was asked by The Direct if the new run will feature any new villains.
He suggests we might see several, though some of the fan theories floating around are maybe a bit too ambitious:
“Yeah, I mean, the idea of heroes and villains in our story… Somebody that you may see can evolve into something unexpected… The idea of introducing characters that we know, Bullseye being one of them, and playing around with, ‘Should we be rooting for this guy? Wait a second, we can’t do that. He killed Foggy.’ So yeah, I mean, everything’s on the table. I think that fan expectations get… I love reading theories. They tend to far outstrip our abilities. But yeah, we’ve got a few more people heading your way.”
We do know Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are on hand in the new run – the Defenders team possibly protecting New York City while Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock is temporarily out of action.
More will become clear when the second season finale airs this coming Tuesday.
