The fate of a fourth “Avatar” film still hasn’t been officially revealed as yet. Though the third film, “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” earned $1.4 billion worldwide – that’s only half the gross of the original and a nearly $1 billion drop from the second film.
Thus, it’s expected that a fourth film won’t happen unless the filmmaking process for the next two films can be done for cheaper.
We do know filmmaker James Cameron shot a part of the next film already – filming a good chunk of the first act years ago, while many of the child actors were still young.
This week, The Direct caught up with Tuk actress Trinity Jo-Li Bliss who spoke about what she’s filmed already and the time jump planned for the sci-fi series:
“We filmed like a first little section of it, and that’s before this epic time jump, which is gonna really expand this story from the characters’ plans, ecosystems of Pandora. We barely touched the tip of the iceberg for what we know about this world, and these characters, and how deep they can go.
So, I really hope we get to continue it. But yeah, we filmed a wee, little bit, and I do remember it well. Actually, even though I was nine, because it was a time jump type thing. I am now 16. Isn’t that kind of insane?
I guess that’s the cool thing, because ‘The Way of Water’ and ‘Fire and Ash’ were made in mind with ‘[Avatar] 4’ and ‘5,’ and it’s a whole story that I just hope we get to finish, because ‘The Way of Water’ and ‘Fire and Ash’ are basically one story, and ‘4’ and ‘5’ are going to be a whole ‘nother thing, a whole next chapter.”
Bliss also commented on rumours she’s up for the Jubilee in the X-Men reboot, saying: “I love the X-Men side of things, so that would be really cool. But, I have not been cast as Jubilee.”
