We mentioned the other day how a Battlefield movie now appears to be in the works alongside the Call Of Duty movie.

That Call Of Duty adaptation, from writer Taylor Sheridan and director Peter Berg, has been confirmed by Paramount Pictures. Activision will produce.

However, there is a slight fly in the ointment. Peter Berg made Lone Survivor which is a brutal look at a special forces mission gone wrong.

While making it, Berg obviously got to work closely with real life operators as consultants, and the movie itself was based on true story.

While working on that movie, he was asked for his opinion on first person shooter games such as Call Of Duty and it is these comments that have come back to haunt him.

In an interview with Esquire, as reported by Dark Horizons, this is what Berg had to say about these shooters:

“Pathetic. Pathetic. Keyboard courage. Can’t stand it. The only people that I give a Call of Duty get-out-of-jail-free card to is the military. They’re out there serving and they’re bored, and they want to entertain themselves? Okay, maybe. Kids? Uh-uh.”

When asked about the Navy SEALs that Berg knows who do actually play these games, he said:

“Some of them do. But I tell them I think it’s pathetic. I think anyone that sits around playing video games for four hours… It’s weak. Get out, do something.”

Call of Duty is currently slated for a June 2028 release, with filming to take place possibly towards the end of this year.

Will these comments surfacing affect Berg’s involvement?
