The galaxy far, far away is heading back to theaters and it’s bringing a familiar duo along for the ride. Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives May 22, marking the first big-screen entry in the franchise since The Rise of Skywalker.

Building on the success of The Mandalorian, the film reunites audiences with Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and his force-sensitive companion Grogu. Picking up after Season 3, Din is now taking on legitimate contract work, stepping into a more official role within the New Republic’s efforts to maintain order after the fall of the Empire.

Their latest mission? Rescue Rotta, the son of Jabba the Hutt, in exchange for critical intelligence tied to a larger threat. What begins as a targeted operation quickly expands into a galaxy-spanning adventure filled with bounty hunters, strange new allies, and dangerous enemies — including the imposing Hutt Twins.

But the biggest shift may come from Grogu himself. The trailer hints that the young Force user will need to step up and fight on his own at times, signaling a new phase in his journey.

With cinematic scale and classic adventure storytelling, this marks a bold return for Star Wars on the big screen.
