Last week we reported that Tom Hardy’s future in MobLand was still hanging in the balance, despite reports he had already been fired.

Now, more details have emerged from the set of the Guy Ritchie crime thriller series that throw some light onto the situation.

Reports seem to indicate that he hasn’t been fired yet, but it could still be very much on the cards and it stems from on set behaviour and disagreements with other cat members and the production team.

A second season has wrapped. Plans are being made for a third season, and Hardy might not be part of it. This could leave the show in something of a quandary, as he is very much the central character.

The Hollywood Reporter, the first outlet to say he hadn’t actually been fired yet, has supplied more details.

They say that Hardy:

“…refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time… he kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play. Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”

They also confirmed that there were disagreements with executive producer Jez Butterworth.

As others have pointed out, George Miller said the same thing on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road, telling some interviewers that Hardy had to be “coaxed” out of his trailer.

Have they tried leaving a trail of food, or making “psss, psss, psss” noises? Perhaps some sort of basket?

Other rumors circulating include that he had a disagreement with Helen Mirren over Middle Eastern politics that became quite heated, and that Pierce Brosnan has been very direct with Hardy about respecting others on set. These are unconfirmed.

One imagines that Brosnan, an acknowledged class act by people who have worked with him, would not take kindly to prima donna behaviour.

So will they pull the trigger? Is there any point in MobLand without Hardy’s character?
