Microsoft is teaming with Meta to launch a new limited edition version of the latter’s Meta Quest 3S VR headset.
Priced at $399.99, the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition is now available for purchase now and is essentially a 128GB Meta Quest 3S done in ‘Carbon Black and Velocity Green’ colors.
There’s also matching Touch Plus controllers and a limited-edition Xbox Wireless Controller, an Elite Strap, 3 months of Meta Horizon+ and 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Lori Wright, Xbox’s corporate vice president of gaming partnerships and business development, says in a statement:
“Today, in collaboration with Meta, we are excited to announce the launch of the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition. The Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition limited edition release – the first limited edition ever for Quest – is part of our ongoing partnership and celebrates the expansion of Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) on Meta Quest headsets.”
Whereas the recently announced Xbox-branded Asus ROG Ally will have custom OS software and hardware alterations compared to existing ROG Ally systems, this appears to have no such alterations beyond a more standard branding/paint job.
Thus it won’t connect to an Xbox Series X|S and will rely on the existing Xbox app on Quest. GamePass presently does not include VR games in its library.
