Max has released the first trailer for “The Penguin,” its upcoming spin-off TV series from Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” film.

The eight-episode series takes place within days to weeks after the end of that film with the death of Carmine Falcone (Jon Turturro) and parts of Gotham City still somewhat flooded.

A fight for control of Gotham’s underworld is underway as The Penguin (Colin Farrell), Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti), and arrested mob boss Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown) battle for control.

Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, Theo Rossi, and David H. Holmes co-star in the project.

Craig Zobel (“Mare of Easttown”) directs the first two episodes and executive producing. Lauren LeFranc is penning the series and will serve as showrunner.

Farrell, LeFranc, Dylan Clark, Matt Reeves, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassanand, and Rafi Crohn executive produce.
