The first set photos are out of Oscar nominee Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan in the James Mangold-directed biopic “A Complete Unknown” in the works at Searchlight.

The story chronicles Bob Dylan’s rise in folk music and sudden transition to rock ‘n’ roll. It will also deal with Dylan’s interaction with 1960s music legends like Joan Baez and Pete Seeger.

The project was in pre-production more than two years ago when it was indefinitely paused due to the pandemic, Mangold’s “Indiana Jones” commitments, and then later the strikes.

Filming has now finally begun this month in New York with location shooting underway. Photos from the set have captured not only Chalamet but also Mangold at work.

Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Nick Offerman, Monica Barbaro and PJ Byrne co-star in the film whilst Boyd Holbrook has a role as fellow music icon Johnny Cash.

Chalamet has been attached to the project since it was first announced. The film is based on author Elijah Wald’s book titled “Dylan Goes Electric” which was used to help craft the script.
