Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson have all closed deals to return for the sequel to 2016’s “The Accountant” at Amazon MGM Studios.

Filmmaker Gavin O’Connor returns to direct from a script penned again by Bill Dubuque and follows on from the first film which made $155 million worldwide, and later became the most-rented digital film in 2017.

Affleck starred in the films as Christian Wolff, a highly skilled accountant with autism who moonlights as a forensic accountant for criminal organizations.

When he uncovers discrepancies in a robotics company, he must navigate a web of deceit to stay a step ahead of the law and his criminal clients.

Bernthal played his security company operator brother Brax, whilst Simmons and Addai-Robinson played enforcement officers for the Treasury Department.

The sequel begins when Addai-Robinson’s character’s former boss is killed by unknown assassins, and she’s forced to contact Christian to solve the murder.

With the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax, Chris applies his brilliant mind and less-than-legal methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle.

As they get closer to the truth, the trio draw the attention of some of the most ruthless killers alive — all intent on putting a stop to their search.

The first film was released by Warner Bros. Pictures. Artists Equity acquired the sequel rights from Warners and set up the project at Amazon following their work together on the J-Lo doco “The Greatest Love Story Never Told” and last year’s Nike film “Air”.

Affleck, Matt Damon, Mark Williams and Lynette Howell Taylor will produce.
