The second season of Marvel Studios’ animated anthology series “What If?” has premiered and with it came a new Disney press release which finally confirms a new Black Panther-centric animated show is on the way.

The Marvel Studios Animation series will be titled “Eyes of Wakanda” and will premiere on the Disney+ service at a currently unspecified date.

The announcement came with a studio sizzle reel screened for attendees that also showed off looks at the highly anticipated “X-Men ’97” and the series “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” (previously titled “Spider-Man: Freshman Year”).

The story will follow the warriors from the hidden African nation as they travel the world searching for missing and stolen vibranium artifacts too dangerous to fall into the wrong hands:

It’s not clear where in the timeline the series will take pace, or if this is separate from the Wakanda series being developed by director Ryan Coogler back in early 2021.

The series announcement comes as Marvel Studios seems to be mostly reassessing its upcoming slate with several shows and films due for 2025 potentially getting some overhauling.
