Eric Bana. is attached to star in the six-episode limited series “Untamed” for Netflix.
“The Revenant” writer Mark L. Smith and his daughter Elle Smith (“The Marsh King’s Daughter”) penned the character driven mystery thriller with Bana playing Eric Inman, a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness.
The investigation of a brutal death sends Inman on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past.
The Smiths, Bana, John Wells, Erin Jontow, Todd Black, Tony Shaw, Steve Lee Jones and Cliff Roberts executive produce.
It marks a return to TV for Bana who appeared in Bravo’s 2018 series “Dirty John”. Since then he’s mostly stuck to homegrown Australian works.
He most recently was seen in films “Force of Nature: The Dry 2” and “Blueback” along with voice work in “Back to the Outback” and “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers”. He’s already shot roles in “Berlin Nobody” and lent his voice to “Memoir of a Snail” both currently in post-production.
Mark L. Smith has two other series on order at Netflix – the western drama “American Primeval” and a new adaptation of “The 39 Steps” starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
The project is not to be confused with another “Untamed” series in the works which just signed on Sarah Paulson to star. That is an adaptation of queer activist Glennon Doyle’s bestselling 2020 memoir.
