Just a week before Marvel Studios launches its highly-anticipated “X-Men ’97” animated series, it has been revealed that the company has fired revival series creator Beau DeMayo according to Variety.
DeMayo is a Marvel regular who previously wrote for the “Moon Knight” series, and had worked on the still gestating “Blade” film.
Two seasons of “X-Men ’97” had been ordered, and DeMayo had already completed writing duties for both seasons of episodes, which continue the beloved 1990s Fox Kids show.
The split reportedly took place early last week and was abrupt. His company email was deactivated and cast and crew were informed he was no longer involved in the project.
No reason for the firing was given. His Instagram account, which often offered updates on the show and he was said to be a prolific poster, has also been deleted.
Press plans involving him have been cancelled, and he reportedly will not attend the Hollywood premiere for the show tomorrow night. Marvel Studios and DeMayo’s representatives reportedly have no comment.
A number of the voice actors from the original show are returning and the first trailer for the series became the most watched promo ever for a Disney+ animated show.
