A new trailer has been released for “Dune: Awakening,” an open world survival MMO game set within the world of the “Dune” films with some added elements of “No Man’s Sky” and “Rust”
The game is said to be a combination of sandbox survival game and a large persistent multiplayer game. The player begins stranded on the sands of Arrakis – no water and no Stillsuit – and has to survive the harsh conditions.
You can soar across dunes in crafted ornithopters, learn the techniques of the Great Schools of the Imperium, raise unique personal outposts, use the wonders of Holzman tech, but always remember… beware the worm.
Water is a precious resource – collect it from plants and even bodies, and keep to shade when possible to reduce water consumption.
Craft your entire arsenal – weapons, gear, clothing, your base, vehicles, and more. In the latter stages, the MMO aspects come to bear as factions will fight for resources.
The game boasts a Landsraad system that enables players aligned with the different houses to vote in ways that impact the whole world.
There’s a base building system lets you create blueprints of what you have built that can be sold onwards to others on the exchange. Co-op building is facilitated with holograms, and you can generate a shield around your base to protect it.
Specific areas will be subject to once a week Coriolis storms which will completely change the landscape, wiping out player outposts and revealing new resource locations.
One thing made quite clear – you can’t kill a sandworm. You can only avoid it. More details on the game are expected throughout the year.
