TRON: Ares is in production right now in Vancouver. Now the first official picture has been released via Jared Leto’s social media. It shows a character that looks similar to those from the last installment, TRON: Legacy.
The movie was impacted by the actor’s strike and had to shut down pre-production back in August. This was just weeks out from the planned start of shooting. Then they got off the ground at the start of this year with Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki) as the director.
The movie will follow the emergence of Ares, a sentient program that crosses over into the human world that is not ready for contact. Jared Leto will play the human manifestation of that program.
Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Cameron Monaghan co-star. The script is written by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. We know Daft Punk will not be doing the soundtrack this time around, but other than the short synopsis we don’t know a huge amount about this upcoming installment.
So instead, let’s just go and watch front seat ride on the new-ish TRON light cycle rollercoaster at Disneyworld. Weeeeee!
