By Christoph Waltz and Caleb Landry-Jones are in talks to star in filmmaker Luc Besson’s new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” for his EuropaCorp lab el.
A synopsis for the film reads this as telling the story of 15th-century Prince Vladimir, who cursed God following the death of his beloved wife and is turned into a vampire.
Later, in 19th century London, he discovers his wife’s doppelgänger and dooms himself by pursuing her. Landry-Jones previously worked with Besson on “Dogman” which premiered in Venice last year but ultimately scored mixed reviews.
Besson has been cleared in France of all charges in the rape case involving the Belgian-Dutch actress Sand Van Roy, but he reportedly no longer has an operational role in EuropaCorp.
EuropaCorp is also currently in production of “Weekend Escape Project,” a Taiwan-set action thriller starring Welsh singer-actor Luke Evans and Taiwanese actress Gwei Lun-mei.
“Dracula” has famously been adapted many times for the screen, Evans himself playing the role before in “Dracula Untold”. The most recent take was “The Last Voyage of the Demeter” which did a film take on a specific chapter of the book.
