There are many fans of filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki’s “Godzilla Minus One,” including one of the most famous filmmakers of all time.

Yamazaki recently posted on Twitter a photo of himself alongside legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. It seems the pair talked at the event with Spielberg revealing he had seen the recent kaiju film three times. Yamazaki says in his post:

“I’ve met GOD. What am I going to do with all this? I’m seriously crying, and Spielberg saw GMO 3 times. He told me he liked the characters in the film. I gave him a Godzilla figure, and he was so happy when he took it.”

The news marks the icing on the cake for the Japanese filmmaker and visual effects supervisor whose film has taken in over $106 million worldwide and is the first “Godzilla” film to receive an Academy Award nomination.

It also was astonishingly revealed in an LA Times piece last week that only 25-33% of the film’s sub-$15 million budget went into the much acclaimed visual effects.

The film unfolds in post-war Japan, which is at its lowest point when a new crisis emerges in the form of a giant monster baptized in the horrific power of the atomic bomb.

A U.S. PVOD, VOD and/or disc release date for the film has not yet been announced.
