Recently came the news that actor Steven Yeun had to drop out of the Marvel Studios feature “Thunderbolts” due to a scheduling conflict.
The film would’ve seen Yeun, expected to play Sentry in the movie, re-teaming with the same writing/directing team on his acclaimed 2023 Netflix series “Beef”.
However, the writers and actors strikes severely impacted the film’s production, causing delays. Now a new report emerging on both DCU Leaks and DanielRPK suggests a replacement for the role may have already been found.
The scoopers indicate Marvel Studios has reportedly offered the role to 27-year-old “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” actor Austin Abrams.
Abrams, best known for his role as Ethan in HBO’s “Euphoria,” previously worked with “Thunderbolts” director Jake Schreier on the film “Paper Towns”.
“Thunderbolts” follows an alliance of antiheroes and villains who reluctantly work for the government.
Cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross.
“Thunderbolts” is set to be released exclusively in cinemas on July 25th 2025.
