By The End of Oak Street wasn’t the box office success it should have been, but David Robert Mitchell’s sci-fi thriller (which our own Chris Bumbray called the best dinosaur movie since Jurassic Park) will soon be available to watch at home. Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that The End of Oak Street will be available digitally on September 15 and will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 3.
The End of Oak Street Special Features
The 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray release of the film will include the following special features:
Banding Together: The Making of The End of Oak Street: From concept to execution, explore how director David Robert Mitchell brought his genre-bending vision to life.
Every Creature Tells a Story: The Dinosaurs of Oak Street: A deep dive into the research and artistry behind ILM’s feathered, scarred, and character-rich dinosaur designs.
The Spinosaurus Attack: Driving Fear on Oak Street: Breakdown one of the film’s most jaw-dropping set pieces: The Spinosaurus attack.
The description reads: “After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.” The film stars Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery.
What We Thought
Bumbray was rather shocked by how much he enjoyed The End of Oak Street, which he said made dinosaurs feel truly dangerous again after so many years of Jurassic World movies.
“It was an almost perfect film, with its only flaw being a two-minute coda at the very end that went a little overboard and should have been deleted (the movie has a logical endpoint immediately prior that would have ended it on a magnificent note),” he wrote. “But that’s a small quibble for one of the most purely enjoyable films of the year, and one that’s begging to be seen in theatres. It’s the best dinosaur movie since the original Jurassic Park.” You can check out the rest of his review right here.
