Matthew Orton has been hired to pen additional scenes and material for the upcoming “Captain America: Brave New World” at Marvel Studios.
Orton, who previously worked as a consulting producer on Marvel’s “Moon Knight” series, will work on material that will be shot during the additional photography period.
Said reshoots will take place sometime over the Spring-Summer of 2024 period. Shooting on the film ran from late March to late June this year, finishing shortly before the actor’s strike began.
The film was originally scheduled for a May 2024 release but is now set for a February 14th 2025 opening, giving the project plenty of time to conduct lengthy reshoots if need be.
Formerly titled “Captain America: New World Order,” the project marks the fourth overall “Captain America” feature and the first to see Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking over the mantle from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. It also serves as a continuation of the television miniseries “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”.
Directed by Julius Onah, who co-wrote the script with Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, the film also stars Sebastian Stan, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Shira Haas and Harrison Ford taking over the role of General Thunderbolt Ross from the late William Hurt.
