“The Long Walk” actor Cooper Hoffman has shot down recent reports that he’s playing Cyclops in Marvel Studios’ upcoming “X-Men” film.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight while out promoting Gregg Araki’s “I Want Your Sex,” the actor was asked about the recent rumors and dismissed the out of hand:

“Oh, not gonna be me, but I love the X-Men. Not for any reason, it’s just not – I don’t know where this came from. S— spreads.”

The report appears to have originated from scooper MyTimeToShineHello, whose track record isn’t the greatest. Asked if he’d be interested if the fans had a say, Hoffman said:

“Of course. They don’t, but I wish they did. I wish they had more of a say. I love X-Men, I’ve been watching since I was a kid. It would be such an honor.”

James Marsden reprises his role of Cyclops in “Avengers: Doomsday” in December, but after that a fresh-faced batch of younger actors are expected to take on the X-Men roles for the MCU’s X-Men film.
