Netflix has premiered the teaser trailer for the six-episode sea creature-themed series “Below” starring Josh Hartnett.
Hartnett stars as fisherman Calvin Penney, a big‑hearted but stubborn man haunted by the mysterious death of his father decades earlier.
Soon, an unidentified sea creature begins terrorising his small Newfoundland hometown, and he must fight to hold his close-knit community together.
Determined to keep his son Wade (Charlie Heaton) and the rest of his family safe, Calvin teams up with a visiting marine researcher (Mackenzie Davis) to confront the creature and reveal the island’s buried secrets before it’s too late.
Willow Kean, Ruby Stokes and Kaleb Horn also star in the twisty series which blends “local myth, thrilling suspense, and heartfelt humour”. One thing it also makes clear – the series is not supernatural so whatever the beastie is, it’s real.
Jesse McKeown serves as the creator and showrunner and executive produces with Harnett, Jessica Rhoades, Chris Hatcher, Jamie Childs, Louise Sutton and Sharon Hall.
“Below” debuts on Netflix on October 8th.
