Appearing at The Game Awards, actor Anthony Mackie announced that a second season for the hit half-hour Peacock series “Twisted Metal” is in development.
The renewal news comes after Peacock announced that the series has pulled in record viewership for an exclusive comedy series earlier this year.
Based on PlayStation’s video game series of the same name, the show follows a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.
Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa starred along with guest stars Neve Campbell, Richard Cabral, Mike Mitchell, Tahj Vaughans and Lou Beatty Jr.
The series is written and executive produced by Michael Jonathan Smith who is also showrunner. Mackie, Arnett, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Marc Forman, Jason Spire, Peter Principato, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan and Hermen Hulst executive produce for Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Universal Television.
