The other day, Vin Diesel posted a video on Instagram showing himself alongside what appeared to be crew members working in a garage-style set with Dominic Torreto’s 1970 Dodge Charger R/T visible.
In the video, he said he “on set, people are grinding, incredible crews are working” before thanking fans for being patient with “Fast Forever” taking so long.
The implication was that filming, or at least pre-production, was well underway. However, that didn’t seem right as there’d been no prior reports of shooting having begun on the new entry.
Now, unsurprisingly, the truth has been revealed. The new film isn’t shooting right now. Rather, The Wrap reports that the filming was for a promo for the World Cup that aired yesterday during the USA/Belgium game in which Diesel reprised his Toretto role.
At last report, Michael Lesslie is penning the script for the next entry, with “Fast X” helmer Louis Leterrier likely to return and a March 17th 2028 release date set.
But there’s been no word on casting or filming scheduled for the finale, which is expected to rein in the budget after “Fast X” cost a jaw-dropping $378 million to make and grossed only $714 million.
