A powerful story of survival, resistance, and hope is returning to audiences as The Champion prepares for a release through Well Go USA.
Originally released in Poland in 2020 under the title “The Champion of Auschwitz,” the film tells the extraordinary true story of boxer Tadeusz Pietrzykowski – known by fellow prisoners as “The Champion of Auschwitz.”
Set during World War II, the film follows Pietrzykowski, a pre-war Polish boxing champion who was among the first prisoners transported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Inside one of history’s darkest places, he used his fists not just to survive, but to inspire. Forced to fight for the entertainment of Nazi officers, Teddy’s near-undefeated streak became a symbol of defiance for prisoners who had almost lost hope.
Starring Piotr Witkowski in the lead role, alongside Rafał Zawierucha and Marcin Czarnik, the film blends brutal realism with emotional resilience.
The newly released trailer showcases the film’s tense boxing sequences and emotional weight, though many viewers may prefer experiencing the movie in its original Polish language rather than the English dub.
More than just a sports drama, The Champion stands as a reminder that even in humanity’s darkest moments, courage can become an act of rebellion.
