Marvel Television’s chief Brad Winderbaum has confirmed that while the first two seasons of “Daredevil: Born Again” took place quite close together, that won’t be the case with the upcoming third.
The third season appears to be adapting “The Devil in Cell Block D” storyline from the comics, with the two main characters in quite different places – Matt Murdock in prison and Wilson Fisk in exile in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Speaking with Screen Rant in the wake of this past week’s second season finale, Winderbaum confirms the third season will be gtting a larger time jump:
“There will be a small time jump, but it’s not too significant. It’s not like we’re jumping ahead five years or anything. We’re probably jumping ahead a year or so, kind of like the real-life distance between seasons. And yeah, Fisk’s exile is its own story. So it’s fun watching these two characters be in their own places in season three.”
He also confirmed the decision to reveal Daredevil’s secret identity came during the development of the second season, and showrunner Dario Scardapane has insisted it will not be undone.
Scardapane tells EW he can’t wait to tackle where Kingpin is now his entire support system has collapsed:
“Now we have a totally different Fisk. There is no Vanessa. There is no network of power. There is no mayor’s office. What does Fisk, at his core, climbing back into power, look like?”
The full second season of “Daredevil: Born Again” is up on Disney+ with the third season currently in production ahead of an early 2027 airing.
