By Three incarnations of “Spider-Man” on the big screen have all been focused on the Peter Parker version of the character, the latest being the MCU’s version with Tom Holland starring.
Yet arguably the more interesting storytelling with the franchise has been happening with the Miles Morales incarnation in both the “Spider-Verse” films and the Insomniac Games titles. Producer Amy Pascal has previously teased that a Miles Morales movie is in the works.
Nonetheless, Sony is still said to be keen on doing a fourth Spider-Man movie with Holland – especially in the wake of the massive success of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” which itself felt like a fitting end to the past two decades of Spidey movies.
However, there’s no real movement seemingly happening on the movie beyond early discussions. Speaking with Collider this week, Holland gave an update:
“All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character. Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing.
I feel very protective over Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy.
So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.
But that said, if we can figure that out, I would be a fool not to put the suit back on again because I owe everything to Spider-Man. I love the character and the people I get to work with. So, I would love to tell another story, but I’ll only tell it if we can find the right one.”
Nothing has been confirmed regarding where the next installment of the franchise will go, and ‘No Way Home’ ends with what is essentially an open slate that could go in any number of directions. Whatever they decide though, it looks like we probably won’t be seeing more Holland Spider-Man for a few years.
