By Whilst “Deadpool 3” will be a slam dunk solo effort next year, Marvel Studios faces a somewhat more crowded 2025 with four films on the way – “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Thunderbolts,” “Fantastic Four” and “Blade”.
“Blade” has famously had its troubles over the years, the new “Captain America” looks like it will undergo serious retooling judging by the delay, and “Fantastic Four” so far is progressing as expected.
That leaves “Thunderbolts” which saw its shoot delayed by the strikes and is gearing up to film shortly. With Marvel seemingly creatively overhauling everything there’s the obvious question as to whether it will be impacted as well.
Wyatt Russell, out promoting his role on Apple TV+ series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” spoke with Josh Horowitz at 92NY yesterday (via THR) where he was asked about “Thunderbolts”. He acknowledged the current Marvel backlash, but thinks this one will turn out fine:
“I have confidence it’s gonna be good. I know everybody is sort of on this Marvel train right now of things not going so well… I know Jake [Schreier, director] so well, and I know how smart Jake is, and how much he cares about making something interesting and different and utilizing everyone’s talents to the best of their ability. And the story that I think they’ve come up with is really interesting — I know parts of the story and how the story works, I can’t talk about it. But it’s not a straightforward Marvel movie as you’ve seen in the past.”
Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, Steven Yeun, Ayo Edebiri, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Harrison Ford also star in the project which is expected to resume production once the strikes are over. “Thunderbolts” is slated for a July 25th 2025 release.
