More tabloid entertainment news, and yet more from a cast member who can’t seem to keep their mouth shut before the movie comes out. This time, it’s Anne Hathaway.
As you might know, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is coming to a cinema near you. It’s a sequel no one asked for, but you’re going to have to see it because of the missus. #PuttingOut
Obviously, all of the cast have been doing the red carpet, and everything was going nicely. This is until the main star, Hathaway, goes and says something like this.

If you cannot listen to it, here’s what Miss Hathaway says:
“So, when I came onto the set, I saw that all the models, who are all very lovely, but traditionally sized. I went to the producers and said, “Wouldn’t it be great if there were more bodies, more types of bodies”, and they looked around and said “We are so annoyed at ourselves that we didn’t notice that!” And they made the change in like 2 seconds, so all credit to them.”
Picture the scene on set. You’re a woman who’s spent years at the gym, watching what you eat, and generally putting a lot of work into how you look and keep yourself healthy and in “model” shape.
You get picked to be an extra in the movie The Devil Wears Prada 2. You probably told your family and friends and are more excited than you’ve ever been.
On the day of the shoot, Anne ‘fringing’ Hathaway walks on to the set, and it’s probably the best day you’ve ever had.
Then you hear this 43-year-old-woman say that most of the models, including yourself, are a bit too skinny, so you’re escorted off the set, only to be replaced by a larger lady.
Not On My Watch
The other thing that people have been saying about this comment on the socials is that it’s Hathaway saying it. No one can deny that she’s a very attractive lady. If I brought her home to meet my mother, my mother would be very happy, and also wonder how the hell I achieved this.
But it seems like Hathaway is saying:
“I’m one of the hottest women on the planet, I don’t want to be outshone in my own movie by some background artist!”
It seems like she would rather surround herself with ‘fatties’, so she looks even better. Some quotes from Twitter.
Perhaps she felt threatened by other skinny actresses, since she’s getting a little longer in the tooth. Of course there would be no threat from fat ones.
But she gets full social credit points for the virtue signal move that she carefully exempted herself from.
She knows what she’s doing.
Translation:
“Could you add more fat women so that I don’t look so mediocre next to all of these hot skinny models?”
So “skinny shaming” is ok now? sounds like discrimination
It’ll be interesting to see how The Devil Wears Prada 2 does at the box office now. Will this be another case of ‘Letting a cast member talk before your movie isn’t a good idea’?
