On Friday came the news that “Crazy Rich Asians” scribe Pete Chiarelli had been hired to pen a new film reboot of the “Charlie’s Angels” franchise.

This would mark the third attempt to bring the classic TV series to the big screen, following the two successful films of the early 2000s and 2019’s failed reboot attempt.

Now, a new report at The InSneider indicates this may not entirely be a reboot. The scooper claims the original stars, Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu, are expected to return for the film – though it’s not clear whether they’ll be as leads or in a reduced ‘torch passing’ style capacity.

The report also surprisingly indicates the writer is trying to find a way to bring back Demi Moore’s ex-Angel character from 2003’s “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” – despite pretty definitively blowing herself up in a gas explosion.

With Diaz having recently un-retired from acting, all three original leads plus Moore are still very much out there in the industry and in demand for roles.

Drew Barrymore and her Flower Films production banner are expected to produce the new film.
