Warner Bros. Pictures has set Skyler Gisondo (“Santa Clarita Diet,” “Booksmart”) as Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen and Portuguese actress/model Sara Sampaio (“At Midnight,” “Billions”) as Lex Luthor’s doting assistant Eve Teschmacher in James Gunn’s new “Superman: Legacy” film.
Olsen is a core part of Superman lore, working alongside Clark Kent and Lois Lane at the Daily Planet. Jack Larson, Marc McClure, Michael Landes, Justin Whalin, Sam Huntington, Michael Cassidy, Aaron Ashmore and Mehcad Brooks have all played the role in the past.
Teschmacher first appeared in Richard Donner’s original 1978 “Superman” film and was a creation of several people including “The Godfather” author Mario Puzo. Valerie Perrine portrayed her in the films.
The castings come hot on the heels of yesterday’s announcement of Nicholas Hoult taking on the role of Lex Luthor in the movie which also stars David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan star as Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane respectively.
Also onboard are Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho, and María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer.
The new film follows Superman as he looks to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
Gunn penned the script whilst his DC Studios co-boss Peter Safran produces. The movie opens July 11th 2025.
