By Adam Sandler has given an update on his second collaboration with his “Uncut Gems” filmmakers Josh & Benny Safdie, a new film that unfortunately appears to have been delayed again.
In a recent interview with Collider, Sandler was asked about the upcoming project’s status.
He says he’s unsure of when it’s going to happen now and claims the WAG and SAG-AFTRA strikes were the cause, combined with scheduling issues as the film shoot ties to live baseball games.
With the next MLB season not slated to begin until late March next year, we may have to wait for some time:
“We’re not sure right now. We kind of missed the opportunity of baseball season because of the strike. A lot of it was gonna be shot during live baseball. So it’s gonna take a minute. We’re figuring it all out right now. I’m not sure when it’s gonna happen.”
The untitled project is being helmed by Josh Safdie from a screenplay he co-wrote with brother Benny Safdie. It marks Josh Safdie’s second solo directorial feature after the pair’s recent ‘temporary’ split.
Ben Affleck, Megan Thee Stallion, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Steve Harvey are also slated to star in the film set in the world of high-end sports card collecting in the 1990s.
Affleck is to play a retired baseball pitcher who attempts a comeback, whilst a sports memorabilia agent (Sandler) attempts to capitalize on his success.
