If there’s one moment in “Avengers: Infinity War” that gets talked about, it’s Star-Lord’s emotional outburst ruining everything.
In the scene in question, Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) ruins his and the other heroes’ plan of trapping Thanos and separating him from his Infinity Gauntlet.
How? After he learns Thanos sacrificed Gamora for the Soul Stone, he becomes enraged and creates an opening for Thanos to escape. Everything that happens after could potentially be regarded as his fault.
In a recent visit to Out of Order’s Scene Stealers, Pratt watched and broke down scenes from his career, including the ‘Infinity War’ one. He says he views the scene ‘differently’ now than when they filmed it:
“What’s wild about this scene is people eviscerate Quill because of his responsibility for essentially getting Iron Man killed for that moment. You know that human moment where people hate this character for a while, and I really felt that.”
He revealed frustrated fans would approach him on the street and ask him why Star-Lord ruined everyone’s plans. He said if he didn’t do what he did, fans would get a half-hour movie:
“We got him. That’s not a movie. You know what I mean? So, looking at it now, I kind of feel the weight of and the ramifications of what happened to the character of Quill because of that. I’m still happy that it happened, but I didn’t understand that it would be iconic.”
Pratt is currently in cinemas with “Mercy”.
