In the world of DC, Salvation was the planet Cygnus 4019, and in a major event series – Final Crisis – from 2008 a large group of supervillains were exiled there, and given no support to survive.

This led to the six episode limited series Salvation Run.

Now Salvation is back, and was revealed as a key plot element in the being exiled to the planet Cygnus 4019, also known as Salvation, where they are given no support to survive.

It was brought into the DCU via the season 2 finale of HBO Max’s Peacemaker.

**Spoiler Warning**

In the finale, Rick Flagg Sr. led the A.R.G.U.S. effort to find a planet, via Chris’ portal tech and the remnants of Luthor’s crew, which he plans to use as a meta human prison.

He abandoned Peacemaker on Salvation both as a test subject, and in revenge for killing his son in The Suicide Squad.

Gunn has now confirmed to Comic Book Resources that in the DCU, Superman, Lex Luthor, Rick Flag Sr. and Peacemaker will be key players in the Salvation storyline:

“There’s a bigger story being told that involves, say, Salvation. And so that story – it involves Rick Flag. It involves Lex and Superman. There are those movies that I’m going to be directing. That’s the plan right now, at least.”

This was then followed up by further comments on Threads where he confirmed that Chris/Peacemaker will be central to what will unfold.

In other DC news, DC fans once again proved themselves to be largely insufferable by review bombing the finale simply because they didn’t get a Superman cameo.
