Fellow Outposters, gather around and congregate in the great halls for another debate. Using our intellects, sharp wits, and superior brains, we can debate another subject. Failing that, we’ll settle it by whipping towels at each other’s balls.

For this week’s debate, we’re going to talk about casting.

So often we hear about the perfect casting for a role. Examples are Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Henry Cavill as Superman or Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. When you think of those characters, you immediately think of that actor. OK, Superman is another debate, but you get the idea.

I reviewed Together this week, and my main issue with the movie was the casting of Dave Franco. He was just wrong in the role. Then this got me thinking, when do casting directors get it wrong?

I didn’t review it, but I also watched The Home this week, starring Pete Davidson. Davidson is one of those ‘actors’ that is always wrong for the role, as he’s not really an actor. Sure, he can stand on his cue and remember his lines, but he’s not really acting. The Home would have been a much better movie without him.

For the great debate this week:

What piece of casting was completely wrong and ruined a movie for you?

I say ruined a movie, that’s a bit far, but what one piece of casting just made a good movie bad for you?

Dune (1984) was a great movie, then Sting turned up and took you right out of the movie. Do you think that Tom Selleck would have made a better Indiana Jones? Join the debate, dear brothers, and give us your thoughts.
