HBO’s “The White Lotus” creator Mike White is hard at work on the third installment of his Emmy-winning anthology series which is expected to shoot early next year assuming the actor’s strike ends soon.
Speaking with EW about how far along the season is, White says that whilst writing was interrupted by the WGA strike, now that it’s over he’s “seriously finishing scripts.”
He also promises it’s “going to be a supersized White Lotus” with a potentially longer episode order from the sounds of it: “It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited.”
How soon the SAG-AFTRA strike ends will determine when filming on the new season can commence as casting needs to be done. Natasha Rothwell is the only cast member confirmed so far for the third installment, reprising her role as Belinda from the first season in the Thailand-set new run.
Originally targeted for a 2024 premiere, Season 3 is now likely moving into 2025 according to HBO chief Casey Bloys the other day. The new season is tipped to explore ‘spirituality versus the ego’ in Eastern religion and spirituality as it follows people attending a Wellness Spa.
