The first part of Zack Snyder’s two-part epic space opera “Rebel Moon” has set its theatrical release details.
“Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire” is set to play exclusively on 70mm from December 15th-21st at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, the Paris Theater in New York City, TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto and at Prince Charles Cinema in London.
The four locations will have a one-week exclusive run of the film prior to the movie’s release on the Netflix streaming service on December 22nd.
Dubbed “Snyder’s Star Wars” due to it being inspired by a failed pitch to Lucasfilm, the R-rated feature stars Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman and Cary Elwes.
Snyder is also working on a separate director’s cut of each “Rebel Moon” film, expected to include up to around an hour of extra material.
“Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” will release on the service on April 19th 2024 and will likely get a theatrical run as well should the first part perform well.
